Portland, Oregon

Interior design for Portland homes.

Residential and commercial interiors, remodeling and renovation design, furnishing and styling, and virtual design for clients further afield.

Filori Design Studio is an interior design studio founded by Brittany Filori, working with homeowners across the Portland metro area on residential and commercial interiors, remodeling and renovation design, furnishing and styling, and virtual design for clients further afield.

You do not need to arrive with a defined style. Most of our clients arrive with a house they like parts of, a list of things that are not working, and no clear way to connect the two. That is the starting point we design from.

Place & Light

Designing for Portland housing and light.

Portland neighborhoods hold very different housing stock, and each kind asks something different of a design. Early twentieth century bungalows and foursquares in inner neighborhoods tend to have small, separated rooms, original trim and floors worth keeping, and kitchens that were never planned for how households cook now. Midcentury homes on the west side often have good bones and low ceilings that reward careful lighting rather than heavy architecture. Newer construction in the suburbs usually has volume and daylight but little character, so the work shifts toward materials, proportion and furnishing.

Light is the other constant. Portland runs overcast for much of the year, which changes how paint colors read, how much artificial light a room genuinely needs, and which finishes stay warm instead of turning gray. We select finishes under the light they will actually live in, and plan layered lighting rather than relying on a single ceiling fixture. Damp winters also shape the practical choices: sealed and wipeable surfaces, durable entry flooring, and textiles that tolerate wet coats and dogs.

Getting Started

How a Portland project starts.

  1. Send a short note about your home, the rooms in question, and your rough timeline.
  2. We talk through scope, budget range and how you use the space, then confirm which service fits.
  3. Design begins with planning and material direction before anything is ordered or demolished.
